minutes walk is the world famous Croisette with its elegant
promenade and lovely sandy beaches and deep blue sea on one
side and the beautiful Belle Epoch and Art Deco buildings on
the other. A must to visit is the fabulous designer shops,
restaurants and busy night life. The Palais des Festival
famous for the Cannes Film Festival and many popular
conferences is toward the end of the promenade. Further along
the prom takes you to the Vieux Port (old port) with its
Marina and magnificent yachts and “Le Suquet” (castle on the
hill) where numerous restaurants are packed into the quaint
narrow streets climbing the hillside. The panoramic views from
the top are not to be missed. For the faint hearted “The
Little White Train” runs regular tours from the promenade
round the area with running commentaries in various
languages. The coastal railway is a good way to see the many
resorts in the area especially in the busy July and August
months.
Attractions
Further along the coast is Monte
Carlo with the Casino decorated in the original Belle Epoch
style. The Monte Carlo Rally is held in January and the Grand
Prix in May. See the changing of the guard at the Grimaldi
Castle in Monaco and look round the small winding streets with
shops, restaurants and museums. The popular Friday Market in
Ventimiglia, Italy is for cheap leather and table linen.
Spirits and tobacco is also cheap in Italy. The ever popular
resort of St Tropez can be reached by ferry from the Cannes
Port. Nice has the colourful Flower Market situated in the
quaint old town with its cobbled streets and unusual shops.
Antibes boasts the largest Marina on the Cote D’Azur where
some magnificent yachts, many owned by famous people are
moored. The Sunday Provencal Market also in Antibes is popular
for those who like their culinary delights. Biot is a medieval
village packed with history. Down from Biot near to the sea is
one of Europes largest fun parks and the most visited
attraction on the French Riviera. Marineland has various shows
daily with killer whales, dolphins, sharks, penguins, sea
lions and many other aquatic species, Aquasplash has water
slides to suit all ages, some are not for the faint hearted.
Crazy Golf is fun for all the family. There is a Childrens
Farm with small animals and rides and Antibes land (a large
funfair) a must for children and adults alike. Less than hours
drive is the Grand Canyon Du Verdon where the river cuts

everyone on the Cote D’Azur.
