Much of the French motorway system requires tolls to be paid

rarely crowded, fast and with good service stations which are
required when the French leg of the journey is 750 miles (14
hours driving). An overnight stop is advisable so you
can arrive fresh for you South of France holiday. There
are several hotel chains available at the roadside those
including; Formule 1, Ibis, Premier Classe, Campanile costing
from £20 to £50 Bed & Breakfast. If you want to be
adventurous you can find some wonderful accommodation by
avoiding the roadside hotel chains by leaving the motorway and
stopping at the first hotel, boarding house, pension or Bed &
Breakfast. The motorway hotels are much like the Travelodge,
the hotels in local villages are much as the UK, the choice is
yours! Some are good, some not. Those travelling
from the UK require a trip over or under the English Channel
to enter France. Click on the links below to make your
selection

Or By Tunnel

Norfolk line
have been reported to be the cheapest but Euro-tunnel are the
fastest by far but a little pricy.
An expensive
way to travel unless you wish to drive most of the time or you
have a large family. Consider the cost of the
ferry/tunnel, fuel, road tolls, overnight accommodation en-route,
roadside assistance etc before using this mode of transport.
A car is not always required
but check the "Le Mirage Holidays" accommodation web pages
for confirmation.
Remember that the public
transport infrastructure is fantastic with a safe and frequent
train and bus services.

By Train
The train
journey using Eurostar and TGV is relaxing and fairly fast in
comparison to a car. However there are changeovers to
make. The journey begins at Waterloo or Ashford for a
journey to Lille (£50 approx return). Then overnight
sleeper (9pm to 10am) from Lille to Antibes or Nice costing
from £140 for a couchette to a luxurious compartment with
en-suite bed etc £240.
You can take
your car on the train in France but at the best part of £800 a
hire car is a better option. Remember that the public
